Although a quick read ( one sitting ) this novel will stick with you forever. Santiago's' journey is one that speaks volumes beyond the story itself. He demonstrates that despite his physical limitations the spirt and the mind can perservre. He shows that consistenty, mental coaching (through speaking encouraging words to once self), faith in a higher power, respect for the foes you may face, modest appraoch to live, no ego despite previous sucess and above all dreaming and positivity. All of these life lessons are packed into this small book and are so elqoently woven through the fabric of the story of Santigao and the great blue marlin.
